Message from the Principal
Dear Oak Grove Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Oak Grove Elementary! As we look ahead to another year of learning and growth, I want to take a moment to express how proud and honored I am to continue serving this extraordinary community.
With over 30 years in education, including 19 years as a principal. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated educators, students, and families. Still, Oak Grove remains one of the most inspiring places I’ve ever had the joy of leading. Our school motto, “Where Tiny Acorns Grow into Mighty Oaks,” speaks to our deep belief in every child’s potential and the strength of the nurturing, supportive environment we build together.
Whether you are a returning family or new to Oak Grove, please know that you are an important part of our school community. I am committed to strong communication and partnership throughout the year and will continue to provide regular updates to keep you informed and involved. If you ever have a question, concern, or idea, I welcome you to reach out. We grow stronger through collaboration.
Please mark your calendars, our first day of school is Thursday, September 4th. We can’t wait to welcome your children back and begin a year filled with discovery, connection, and joy.

Medication Drop off begins Thursday 9/4/2025. Please see the procedure below for medication administration at school. Please find the district medication order form attached. Older students should discuss the self carry/self administration option with their provider.
1. Meds must be dropped off and picked up by an adult. This is a state requirement for the safety of students (unless they have self carry/self admin orders).
2. Paperwork - Two Parts
A. Please request a medication order from the doctor for the medication to be administered at school. You can bring it or have it faxed to the school at 845-298-5270. District med form attached. ****Older students should discuss the self carry/self administration option with their provider.****
B. Parent permission slips to be signed, please see attached.
3. Please bring the med in the original packaging from the pharmacy and make sure it is not expired (i.e. no inhalers in ziplock baggies; they need their box with the label).

About Our School
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Poughkeepsie, the Oak Grove Elementary School has been an integral part of our community since 1963.
Oak Grove Elementary School is one of ten elementary schools in the Wappingers Central School District. It is located in the Mid-Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie, about 75 miles north of New York City. Oak Grove has approximately 500 students in Grades K-6.
It is a friendly, inviting school nestled among the houses in a well-kept, tree-lined neighborhood. The building is set back from the road and is not visible until visitors round a curve and come upon it! In 1971, the original one-room scholhouse established in 1812 was moved to the Oak Grove property.
